Behind the Scenes at the Tang

Behind the Scenes at the Tang invites students of all interests to join us on a journey discovering the Tang Teaching Museum, Skidmore campus, and the Saratoga Springs 社区, all while exploring connections between 艺术, ideas and ourselves.

During the program, you will get an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the museum and how it functions as an interdisciplinary teaching museum for the campus and surrounding 社区. You will meet museum staff and explore the current exhibitions and permanent collection of more than 7,000 objects.

And you will create 艺术! On your own and in groups, you will make pieces inspired by the things you have seen, the people you have met and the ideas you have explored. The 艺术 projects are designed and led every year by the group’s peer advisors, Skidmore students who work and connect with the museum in various capacities, such as education, collection and exhibition assistants, Tang guides, interns and more. 的项目 take inspiration from the 艺术 on view at the Tang, use a range of 艺术s and crafts materials and are open to all skill levels. The final pieces created in the program are displayed at Case Gallery, the student 艺术 gallery in Case Campus Center.

P艺术icipants do not need any prior 艺术-making experience, just an openness to new experiences and a willingness to have fun!
