Information for Third 和 Fourth Year Students

- Review application process - looking at two years from starting Skidmore HPAC process to matriculating in the 程序. With your HPAC advisor, revise your application timeline as needed. 一定 要使用 HPAC Interview Timeline Excel Spreadsheet 协助您.
- Refine the list of 程序s you plan to apply to. Review their particular requirements 和 revise your course plans 和 timeline accordingly. 一定 to review Skidmore's articualtion agreements.
- Complete relevant coursework ahead of taking the relevant entrance exam if required, 申请课程, 和 matriculating. Note - certain courses may need to be completed prior to applying while other courses need to be completed by matriculation.
- Continue meeting with your HPAC advisor at least once per semester. 你会想要 to discuss your strengths 和 areas to develop further, courses to take, other experiences to have (research, volunteering, clinical, shadowing, internships, work, leadership, 等.), your timeline, 和 your goals 和 plans.
- Discuss with your HPAC advisor regarding your grades, target test scores (e.g.,称MCAT score), 和 where to apply. Be aware of the national statistics overall (AAMC网格MCAT分数 & 平均绩点). 平均绩点 和 test scores are not destiny but may mean being very targetted in where to apply 和 or developing a plan to get you competitive at the institutions you are 感兴趣.
- Go over why you want to be a medical doctor, dentist, nurse partitioner, vet, 等. The HPAC interview will start with why you want to go to to the 程序 you are interested in 和 what makes you a good c和idate. If a medical doctor, why not a Nurse Practitioner or a 医师助理?
- If you are taking a gap/glide year or two, discuss with your HPAC advisor what you plan to do in that year(s). 使用 Career Development Center to find opportunities 和 refine your materials.
- Take advantage of the relevant opportunities, activities, 和 experiences offered. In particular, keep an eye out for e-mails from HPAC 和 the Career Development Center.

- Develop your resume/CV 和 use the resources available from the Career Development Center.
- As appropriate study for 和 take the relevant entrance exam if required (e.g.,称MCAT) according to your timeline to apply. For medicine, you will want to also prepare for 卡斯珀 和 对象为预览. You may also want to take 二重唱.
- Continue to develop professional relationships with faculty members 和 other professionals. These relationships serve as the foundation for letters of recommendation.
- If you have accomodations, please review the guidelines 和 requirements to apply
for accommodations on the relevant st和ardized tests. MCAT for example needs prior
verification 和 a current evaluation.
